What is PRK?
PRK is a single-stage laser vision correction procedure that does not require creating a corneal flap. Instead, the outermost layer of the cornea (epithelium) is gently removed to expose the underlying tissue. An Excimer laser is then used to precisely reshape the cornea, correcting refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
Over the following days, the epithelium naturally regenerates, leading to gradual vision improvement. PRK is a safe and effective option, particularly for individuals with thin corneas or those engaged in contact sports or high-impact activities.

"If you're seeking exceptional eye care in a soothing environment, look no further than The Eye Infirmary Clinic. From the moment I stepped through the door, I knew I was in good hands." - Mohammed Alsaffar
The PRK procedure itself is quick, typically lasting around 10 to 15 minutes per eye. However, you should expect to spend about an hour at the clinic for preparation and post-procedure care.
Initial healing takes about 3 to 5 days as the surface layer of the cornea (epithelium) regenerates. Vision may be blurry during this time, with gradual improvement over the next few weeks. Most patients achieve stable vision within 1 to 3 months.
Yes, PRK provides long-lasting vision correction. However, natural changes in the eye due to aging, such as presbyopia, may still occur over time.
PRK is ideal for individuals with thin corneas, those with a high risk of eye trauma (such as athletes and military personnel), or those who are not suitable for LASIK due to corneal shape.
